Feel free to join the Boschee Family Research Group
The Boschee Family Research Group is an online group of family genealogists interested in researching and recording the Boschee family history. We communicate using an online mailing list called the "BOSCHEE-L" (Boschee-List). You are invited to participate in our online discussions.
Group discussion topics focus primarily on current family genealogical research and available resources that will help resolve research puzzles. The purpose of the list is to create helpful discussions of the research methods, resources, and problems that our family genealogists have in common, regardless of the different families they study. Those who develop specific questions or problems in their own research may solicit suggestions from the group on how to attempt to resolve a research problem. Subscribers belonging to this mailing list are free to submit individual queries, research questions, etc. Those who discover useful research resources and strategies are encouraged to share their expertise. Postings from both experienced and inexperienced participants are welcome.
When submitting queries, it is desirable to provide specific details (date, place, names, events) about a particular research problem you have run into. The follow-up discussion is likely to focus on the methods and resources that you can use to resolve your research problem.
How to join the discussion group In order to participate in our online discussions you need to send a subscription request via e-mail. There are two different ways you may receive the posts to the mailing list: as individual e-mail messages; or as a digest of multiple messages. There is a different e-mail address for each subscription format.
To join BOSCHEE-L (regular format), send mail to:
BOSCHEE-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body.
To join BOSCHEE-D (digest format), send mail to:
BOSCHEE-D-request@rootsweb.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body.
Don't include anything else in the message or subject line -- no signature file, nothing but the single word subscribe. (This is because you will be sending an email message to a computer program which manages the subscriptions, rather than a human. When the program adds your e-mail address to the subscription list, it will send you an acknowledgement message.) Later, if you want to unsubscribe, send a message to the same address with the single word unsubscribe in the message subject and body.
If you decide you want to change to a different distribution format, you must unsubscribe from your present format and re-subscribe using the address for the new format.
If you would like to send a message to the entire research group, just address it to:
BOSCHEE-L@rootsweb.com It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.
In this case, follow the usual e-mail conventions: - a descriptive Subject line, to encourage people to read your article - a body consisting of multiple text lines, and - a closing signature with your return e-mail address.
Is this confusing, to have so many addresses? You bet! It is the most common sort of problem with participating via e-mail. We can help you if you get confused. For additional information or questions about the BOSCHEE-L mailing list, send a message to Info@Boschee.org
