This Kuchen recipe was always a family favorite
at reunions and as holiday treats.

Dough:
2 cups milk
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup Crisco and butter
2 cups cream
1/2 tablespoon salt
3 eggs
2 cups milk & cream
about 11 cups flour (enough or soft dough)

Custard:
1 quart cream
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
6 eggs
dash salt
Mix thoroughly then simmer slowly to thicken.

Let dough rise and roll out first before putting in pans and baking.  Roll out 1/4 inch thick and big enough for pie or cake pan bottoms.  Put fruit (peaches, prunes, raisins, or apples) on top of dough; put a little custard on to cover fruit and sprinkle cinnamon on top.  Mix 2 cups dry curd cottage cheese with one cup custard for each kuchen.  Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Sugar Kuchen: 1 cup flour & 2 cups sugar. Mix with enough butter to make crumbly and top with cinnamon.
